The bill amends the Revised School Code by adding Section 1246a, which establishes salary limitations for school district and intermediate school district administrators, including superintendents, principals, and other school administrators. According to the new provision, these individuals cannot be employed or contracted at a salary exceeding the greater of either four times the starting salary for a teacher or three times the average salary for a teacher within the respective district.

However, there is an exception for existing employment contracts. If a contract that specifies a salary for an individual in one of these roles is already in effect on the effective date of the amendment and does not comply with the new salary limitations, the restrictions will not apply to that individual until the contract expires. This allows for a transition period for districts that may currently have higher salary agreements in place.
