This bill amends the Revised School Code of 1976, specifically section 1177, to update the requirements for immunization documentation for children enrolling in public or nonpublic schools. It specifies that children enrolling for the first time in grade 7 must submit one of three types of documentation regarding their immunization status. These include a physician's statement confirming immunization, a parent or guardian's statement citing religious objections, or a physician's statement indicating that the child is in the process of meeting immunization requirements. Additionally, parents or guardians of children entering kindergarten must provide proof of a preschool vision screening.

The bill also mandates that school administrators report the immunization status of new students in grades K to 12 to the Department of Health and Human Services by November 1 each year, with an update due by February 1. The language of the bill replaces references to the "Department of Community Health" with "Department of Health and Human Services" and clarifies that the department will establish rules for implementing these requirements. The bill is set to take effect 90 days after being enacted, contingent upon the passage of related legislation.
