The proposed bill, titled the "Protecting Minors from Chemical and Surgical Mutilation Act," aims to prohibit health care professionals from engaging in practices that alter the sex characteristics of minors under the age of 18. Specifically, it prohibits the prescribing of certain hormones, performing surgeries that sterilize or construct genitalia inconsistent with the minor's biological sex, and removing healthy body parts. However, exceptions are made for minors with medically verifiable disorders of sex development or those facing imminent danger due to physical disorders, injuries, or illnesses.

Additionally, the bill allows individuals who believe they have been subjected to violations of this act to seek legal remedies, including injunctive relief and damages, within a specified timeframe after reaching adulthood. The attorney general is also granted the authority to enforce the provisions of this act. The bill includes definitions for key terms such as "minor," "health care professional," and "sex," ensuring clarity in its application.
