The bill amends the Michigan Occupational Safety and Health Act by adding a new section, Sec. 66, which establishes protections for employees regarding workplace safety and health disclosures. It prohibits employers from discharging or discriminating against employees who report information about occupational safety practices, workplace hazards, or communicable diseases to various parties, including the employer, other employees, governmental agencies, or the public. Additionally, the bill makes it unlawful for employers to require employees to enter into agreements or abide by policies that restrict their ability to disclose such information.

Furthermore, the bill protects employees who choose to wear their own personal protective equipment that offers greater protection than what the employer provides. It also creates a presumption of violation if an employer takes adverse action against an employee within 90 days of the employee engaging in protected activities, unless the employer can provide clear and convincing evidence that their actions were legally justified.
