The bill amends the Michigan Occupational Safety and Health Act by adding a new section that establishes the Infectious Disease Worker Safety Commission within the Department of Labor and Economic Opportunity. This commission will consist of various members, including representatives from labor unions in health care, law enforcement, and food delivery sectors, as well as individuals from private and public sector management, and health care professionals specializing in epidemiology and occupational safety. The director of the department will appoint the commission members, with specific term lengths for the initial appointments, and will also have the authority to remove members for various reasons.

The commission is tasked with determining best practices for employee safety during emergencies related to infectious diseases, which includes guidelines on personal protective equipment, handwashing stations, and social distancing. They are required to prepare a public report detailing these practices within 120 days of the bill's enactment. Employers must post this report in their workplaces and are prohibited from taking disciplinary action against employees who refuse to work during such emergencies if the report is not posted.
