The bill amends the Michigan Penal Code to establish new regulations regarding firearm possession in specific locations. It prohibits individuals from possessing firearms in various places, including financial institutions, churches, courts, theaters, sports arenas, day care centers, hospitals, and licensed establishments under the Michigan liquor control code. However, exceptions are made for individuals who are employed by or contracted to provide security for these entities, peace officers, those licensed to carry concealed weapons, and individuals with permission from the property owner.

Additionally, the bill introduces restrictions on firearm possession during election-related activities, such as at polling places and early voting sites, as well as near absent voter ballot drop boxes and counting places. It also specifically prohibits firearm possession in the Michigan State Capitol Building and associated office buildings, with similar exceptions for security personnel, peace officers, and licensed concealed carry holders who are serving as members of the Michigan legislature. Violations of these provisions are classified as misdemeanors, punishable by imprisonment for up to 90 days or a fine of up to $100.
