This bill aims to enhance the enforcement of the event online ticket sales act by granting the attorney general the authority to investigate violations and impose civil sanctions. It establishes that any person found in violation of the act may face a civil fine of up to $5,000, with each ticket transaction constituting a separate violation. The collected fines will be deposited into the general fund. Additionally, the attorney general is empowered to take civil action to restrain ongoing violations and to collect fines and restitution from violators.

Furthermore, the bill stipulates that if a person disobeys a court order or injunction related to the enforcement of the event online ticket sales act, they may also incur a civil fine of up to $5,000. The court may allow the attorney general to recover reasonable costs and attorney fees associated with actions that result in the imposition of civil fines. The enactment of this bill is contingent upon the passage of Senate Bill No. 158 of the 103rd Legislature.
