Senate Resolution No. commemorates the 50th anniversary of the Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC), which was established to provide essential services that support families and promote healing for children in need of healthcare. Since the opening of the first Ronald McDonald House in Philadelphia in October 1974, RMHC has expanded into a global network comprising over 385 houses, 270 Family Room programs, and more than 40 Care Mobiles. In Michigan alone, RMHC operates five locations that offer families a place to stay, meals, and support while their children receive medical care.
The resolution highlights RMHC's significant impact, including providing 2.7 million overnight stays for families and establishing over 1,000 programs in 62 countries. It also emphasizes RMHC's commitment to community outreach through Care Mobiles, which deliver dental care, medical treatment, and health education to underserved populations. The Senate officially recognizes and honors the contributions of RMHC as it celebrates its 50th anniversary from October 2024 to October 2025.
