The bill amends the Michigan Vehicle Code by adding a new section, 811kk, which mandates the development and issuance of a fund-raising license plate dedicated to prostate cancer awareness. The Secretary of State is tasked with creating the design of these plates in collaboration with the P.C.U.P.S. Foundation.
Additionally, the bill establishes the Prostate Cancer Awareness Fund within the state treasury, allowing the state treasurer to receive and manage funds from various sources. The treasurer is responsible for investing the fund and ensuring that any interest or earnings are credited back to it. Funds raised from the sale of the awareness plates will be transferred to this fund, which will then be disbursed quarterly to the P.C.U.P.S. Foundation. The act will take effect 90 days after being enacted into law.
