The bill amends the Natural Resources and Environmental Protection Act by adding a new section, 43540g, which mandates the Secretary of State to provide voter registration applications to the Department of Natural Resources and designated individuals who issue resident hunting, fur harvester's, or fishing licenses. The Department or its designees are required to display and make these voter registration applications available to the public and may inquire if individuals applying for licenses would like a voter registration application. However, they are prohibited from assisting individuals in completing these applications.
Additionally, the Department must provide a link to the voter registration application website for applicants who apply for licenses online. Importantly, the Department and its designees are explicitly stated not to be designated voter registration agencies and are restricted from engaging in any voter registration activities, including the acceptance or collection of voter registration applications, whether complete or incomplete.
