HOUSE RESOLUTION NO.331
Reps. Tate and Aiyash offered the following resolution:
1 A resolution to declare December 16-20, 2024, as NCSL Week in
2 the state of Michigan.
3 Whereas, The National Conference of State Legislatures was
4 founded in 1975 and will celebrate its 50th anniversary in 2025.
5 NCSL has evolved during the past half-century to become the premier
6 organization solely dedicated to serving state and territorial
7 legislators and legislative staff; and
8 Whereas, It was created from the merger of three organizations
9 that served or represented state legislatures and that shared the
10 belief that legislative service is one of democracy’s worthiest
11 pursuits; and
12 Whereas, NCSL is a bipartisan organization with three

1 objectives: to advance the effectiveness, independence, and
2 integrity of state legislatures; to foster interstate communication
3 and cooperation; and to ensure states a strong, cohesive voice in
4 the federal system; and
5 Whereas, Our nation’s state legislatures are America’s
6 laboratories of democracy and have continually shown that they are
7 the bodies to tackle emerging challenges, and state legislatures
8 are where people from very different backgrounds, representing very
9 different communities, can come together and find common ground,
10 and NCSL has facilitated the exchange of ideas, provided critical
11 research and information, and encouraged a rigorous review of
12 complex issues confronting our communities, states, and nation, and
13 NCSL strives to strengthen the bonds between America’s state
14 legislatures and the international community; now, therefore, be it
15 Resolved by the House of Representatives, That the members of
16 this legislative body declare December 16-20, 2024, as NCSL Week in
17 the state of Michigan.
