HOUSE RESOLUTION NO.316
The Speaker, on behalf of the entire membership, offered the
following resolution:
1 A resolution of tribute for the Honorable Graham Filler.
2 Whereas, We take this opportunity to honor Representative
3 Graham Filler as he brings to a close his tenure of service to the
4 people of Michigan as a member of the Michigan House of
5 Representatives. Throughout the last six years, Representative
6 Filler has exhibited leadership within the Legislature and
7 dedication to his constituents in the Ninety-third District, which
8 encompasses portions of Clinton, Gratiot, Ionia, Montcalm, and
9 Saginaw counties; and
10 Whereas, Elected to the House of Representatives in 2018,
11 Representative Filler entered public service with a wealth of
12 experience in law. He earned a juris doctor from the University of

1 Detroit Mercy and graduated from Miami University with a bachelor’s
2 degree in law, politics, and history. As an Assistant Attorney
3 General for both the Michigan Attorney General’s Office and the
4 Michigan Public Service Commission, he garnered expertise that has
5 been valuable in his service to the Legislature; and
6 Whereas, Representative Filler served as the chair of the
7 Judiciary Committee for two terms, where he worked diligently to
8 improve the administration of justice within the state. Notably, he
9 earned national attention for spearheading reforms to expand the
10 number of individuals eligible for expungement. He also endorsed
11 civil asset forfeiture reforms, protections for businesses from
12 COVID-19 liability, revisions to Michigan’s sex offender registry,
13 and the preservation of background checks in the state; and
14 Whereas, In addition to serving on the Judiciary Committee,
15 Representative Filler served as the minority vice chair of the
16 Criminal Justice Committee and as a member of the House committees
17 on Agriculture, Elections and Ethics, Energy, Health Policy, and
18 Regulatory Reform. Representative Filler has been a strong advocate
19 of ensuring Michigan families have access to reliable and
20 affordable energy sources. During his time in office, he led the
21 effort to commission an independent study on nuclear energy
22 generation in Michigan. He has also been an ardent proponent of
23 agriculture on behalf of the Ninety-third District and Michigan
24 farmers across the state; now, therefore, be it
25 Resolved by the House of Representatives, That we offer this
26 expression of admiration and thanks to the Honorable Graham Filler
27 for his service to the people of this state as a member of this
28 legislative body; and be it further
29 Resolved, That copies of this resolution be transmitted to
