A bill to amend 1976 PA 451, entitled
"The revised school code,"
(MCL 380.1 to 380.1852) by adding section 1166c.
THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF MICHIGAN ENACT:
1 Sec. 1166c. (1) The department shall develop or adopt, and
2 make available to schools, a model program of instruction in the
3 prevention of cyberbullying and harassment for each grade level.
4 The model program of instruction in the prevention of cyberbullying
5 and harassment must be age appropriate.
6 (2) The board of a school district or intermediate school

1 district or board of directors of a public school academy is
2 strongly encouraged to incorporate the model program of instruction
3 in the prevention of cyberbullying and harassment developed or
4 adopted under subsection (1) into the curriculum for each grade
5 level at schools operated by the board or board of directors.
6 (3) As used in this section, "cyberbullying and harassment"
7 means the use of electronic communication devices, including, but
8 not limited to, cell phones, personal computers, and tablets, to
9 bully an individual, typically by sending messages of an
10 intimidating or threatening nature.
