HOUSE RESOLUTION NO.291
The Speaker, on behalf of the entire membership of the House of
Representatives, offered the following resolution:
1 A resolution of tribute offered as a memorial for Robert M.
2 Gosselin, former member of the House of Representatives.
3 Whereas, It is with great sorrow that the members of the House
4 of Representatives learned about the passing of Robert (Bob) M.
5 Gosselin. He will be remembered as a dedicated public servant by
6 his constituents in the Troy and Rochester Hills areas; and
7 Whereas, Bob Gosselin was born and raised in Berkley,
8 Michigan, where he graduated from high school before studying
9 mechanical and architectural engineering at Lawrence Technological
10 University; and
11 Whereas, Upon graduating from college, Bob Gosselin found
12 professional success, spending many years working as a designer for

1 General Motors, while also acting as a licensed real estate agent
2 and builder. These endeavors allowed him to be a dedicated provider
3 for his family; and
4 Whereas, Throughout his life, Bob Gosselin maintained a
5 passion for politics and public service. He served as the Troy
6 Mayor pro-tem, acted as a delegate at the 1992 and 1996 Republican
7 National Conventions, and served as a member of numerous
8 organizations, including the Troy Community Coalition, the Troy
9 School Board, and the Troy City Council. This same passion led to
10 the 1998 election of Bob Gosselin to the Michigan House of
11 Representatives, where he served from 1999 to 2002, and then again
12 from 2005 to 2006; and
13 Whereas, After retirement, Bob Gosselin did not slow down and
14 continued to serve his community. He served as a board member for
15 Hope Against Trafficking, an organization based in Pontiac that is
16 dedicated to helping women escaping trafficking situations. Using
17 his knowledge and experience in real estate and home renovations,
18 Bob Gosselin became an integral part of the organization’s ability
19 to provide safe housing for survivors of human trafficking; and
20 Whereas, Though Bob Gosselin found success in the professional
21 and political aspects of his life, his true joy and success came
22 from his faith and family. One of his favorite things to do was
23 spend time with his family, which included three children and six
24 grandchildren. Bob Gosselin also always made time for his Christian
25 faith, belonging to a number of churches throughout his lifetime.
26 During every stage and adventure of his life, Bob Gosselin let his
27 Christian faith guide him, and always stayed true to his beliefs;
28 and
29 Whereas, Upon Bob Gosselin’s passing, we offer our condolences

1 to his loved ones. Bob Gosselin’s contributions to this chamber and
2 the State of Michigan will be remembered; now, therefore, be it
3 Resolved by the House of Representatives, That we offer this
4 expression of our highest tribute to honor the memory of Robert
5 (Bob) Gosselin, a member of the House of Representatives from 1999
6 to 2002 and 2005 to 2006; and be it further
7 Resolved, That copies of this resolution be transmitted to the
8 Gosselin family as evidence of our lasting esteem for his memory.
