HOUSE RESOLUTION NO.277
The Speaker, on behalf of the entire membership of the House of
Representatives, offered the following resolution:
1 A resolution of tribute offered as a memorial for Paul E.
2 Muxlow, former member of the House of Representatives.
3 Whereas, It was with great sorrow that the members of the
4 House of Representatives learned about the passing of Paul Muxlow.
5 He will be remembered as a dedicated public servant by his
6 constituents in the Thumb and the people of the state of Michigan;
7 and
8 Whereas, Paul Muxlow had deep roots in the Thumb long before
9 he entered the Legislature. He was a 1956 graduate of Brown City
10 High School who went on to serve in the Air National Guard and earn
11 degrees from Eastern Michigan University, the University of
12 Michigan, and Siena Heights University. After beginning a teaching

1 career at Ferndale High School and Henry Ford Community College, he
2 returned to Brown City and spent 20 years working at the Lapeer
3 County Education & Technology Center. He also owned Muxlow’s Drug
4 Store and had success as a real estate broker, being twice named
5 Red Carpet’s Top Salesman of the Year; and
6 Whereas, Paul was also a pillar of his community. Beginning in
7 1976, he was elected to six consecutive terms on the Brown City
8 Community Schools Board of Education. He also served on the Sanilac
9 Intermediate School District Board of Education, the Sanilac County
10 Economic Development Commission, and the Board of Directors of
11 Marlette Regional Hospital; and
12 Whereas, In 2010, Paul was first elected to the House of
13 Representatives, where he went on to serve three terms. In his time
14 in the House, he developed a reputation of being an extremely
15 principled advocate for the causes he believed in. He championed
16 the Scrap Metal Regulatory Act to make it more difficult for
17 thieves to steal copper and other metals, as well as “Logan’s Law,”
18 which made the Internet Criminal History Access Tool available to
19 animal shelters so that they could determine whether an individual
20 seeking to adopt an animal had previously been convicted of an
21 animal abuse offense; and
22 Whereas, Through it all, Paul Muxlow was supported by his
23 loving family. He married his wife, Elizabeth, in 1964, and they
24 had three sons—Jeff, Doug, and Matt—who all made Paul proud; and
25 Whereas, Upon Paul Muxlow’s passing, we offer our condolences
26 to his loved ones. Paul Muxlow’s contributions to this chamber and
27 the state of Michigan will be remembered; now, therefore, be it
28 Resolved by the House of Representatives, That we offer this
29 expression of our highest tribute to honor the memory of Paul E.

1 Muxlow, a member of the House of Representatives from 2011 to 2016;
2 and be it further
3 Resolved, That copies of this resolution be transmitted to the
4 Muxlow family as evidence of our lasting esteem for his memory.
