HOUSE RESOLUTION NO.270
Reps. Carra, Friske, DeBoyer, Maddock, Rigas, Schriver, DeSana,
Fox, Smit, Alexander, Tisdel, Beson, Roth, Wozniak, Aragona and Kunse
offered the following resolution:
1 A resolution to oppose illegal immigration and express support
2 for legal immigration.
3 Whereas, Illegal immigration has become a crisis that has made
4 every state in the nation a border state; and
5 Whereas, The Biden Administration caused this crisis by
6 systematically dismantling sound immigration policy and preventing
7 enforcement agents from effectively securing the southern border;
8 and
9 Whereas, Taxpayer-funded handouts have incentivized illegal
10 immigration; and
11 Whereas, Immigration caps have disincentivized legal

1 immigration, pushing people into the hands of the cartels; and
2 Whereas, The cartels have a profit motive to exploit our
3 failure to secure the southern border; and
4 Whereas, Failure to secure the border means we are unable to
5 conduct background checks on people entering the country; and
6 Whereas, A substantial body of evidence indicates that the
7 United States would benefit from increasing the flow of legal
8 immigration; and
9 Whereas, Freedom of movement is a core element of human
10 freedom and a promise of the American Dream; now, therefore, be it
11 Resolved by the House of Representatives, That we urge
12 Congress and the President of the United States to immediately
13 secure the border and put a stop to illegal immigration; and be it
14 further
15 Resolved, That the sentiment of the House is that legal
16 immigration is too hard and illegal immigration is too easy; and be
17 it further
18 Resolved, That immigration caps should be eliminated and legal
19 immigration should be fostered, so long as immigrants pass a
20 background check and the government provides no taxpayer-funded
21 assistance; and be it further
22 Resolved, That copies of this resolution be transmitted to the
23 President of the United States, the Speaker of the United States
24 House of Representatives, the President of the United States
25 Senate, and the members of the Michigan congressional delegation.
