HOUSE RESOLUTION NO.252
Reps. Wegela, Tsernoglou, Andrews, McFall, Rheingans, Weiss,
Churches, MacDonell, Dievendorf, Paiz, Brabec, Edwards, Wilson,
McKinney, Rigas, Jaime Greene, Bezotte, Breen, Byrnes, Haadsma, Hill,
Liberati and Rogers offered the following resolution:
1 A resolution to declare May 12, 2024, as Fibromyalgia
2 Awareness Day in the state of Michigan.
3 Whereas, Fibromyalgia is a chronic disorder characterized by
4 widespread musculoskeletal pain, fatigue, sleep disturbances, and
5 cognitive difficulties; and
6 Whereas, Fibromyalgia affects an estimated 2-8 percent of the
7 population, often causing significant impairment in daily
8 functioning; and
9 Whereas, Awareness and understanding of fibromyalgia among the

1 general public, healthcare professionals, and policymakers is
2 crucial for early diagnosis, effective treatment, and support for
3 individuals living with this condition; and
4 Whereas, May 12th is recognized internationally as
5 Fibromyalgia Awareness Day, providing an opportunity to educate
6 communities about fibromyalgia and support efforts to improve
7 research, treatment, and quality of life for those affected; and
8 Whereas, The state of Michigan recognizes the importance of
9 raising awareness about fibromyalgia and supporting individuals
10 living with this condition; now, therefore, be it
11 Resolved by the House of Representatives, That members of this
12 legislative body declare May 12, 2024, as Fibromyalgia Awareness
13 Day in the state of Michigan. We encourage all residents,
14 healthcare professionals, organizations, and businesses in Michigan
15 to learn more and raise awareness about fibromyalgia in our
16 communities.
