HOUSE RESOLUTION NO.247
Reps. Steele, Bierlein, Beson, Fox, Neyer, DeBoyer, Kunse, Zorn,
Aragona, Martin, Meerman, Outman, Schmaltz, Roth, Wozniak, Bezotte,
Alexander, St. Germaine, Smit, Hoadley, Borton, Schuette, Posthumus,
Jaime Greene, Harris, Cavitt, DeBoer, Price, VanderWall, Steckloff,
Wilson, MacDonell and Arbit offered the following resolution:
1 A resolution to declare May 2, 2024, as End Jew-Hatred Day in
2 the state of Michigan.
3 Whereas, For millennia, the Jewish people have sustained their
4 shared religious, cultural, and ethnic identity and traditions in
5 the face of enslavement, persecution, genocide, segregation, and
6 discrimination; and
7 Whereas, The Jewish community has continued to be subjected to
8 antisemitism and Jew-hatred, including discrimination in the

1 workplace, on school campuses, and in public spaces; and
2 Whereas, Hate crimes directed against the Jewish community
3 have skyrocketed in recent years, inspiring and empowering Jewish
4 people to discover and embrace their heritage, without fear of
5 attack or persecution; and
6 Whereas, We all share an obligation to condemn and combat Jew-
7 hatred in all of its forms; and
8 Whereas, We recognize the urgent need to stand against Jew-
9 hatred so that the intergenerational trauma of the past shall never
10 be repeated; now, therefore, be it
11 Resolved by the House of Representatives, That the members of
12 this legislative body declare May 2, 2024, as End Jew-Hatred Day in
13 the state of Michigan; and be it further
14 Resolved, That we set aside political differences, unite with
15 singular purpose to condemn Jew-hatred in all of its forms, and
16 stand resolute to end the discrimination and persecution of the
17 Jewish people.
