HOUSE RESOLUTION NO.248
Reps. Weiss, Alexander, Breen, Churches, Fitzgerald, Glanville,
Haadsma, Hill, MacDonell, Rheingans, Xiong and Young offered the
following resolution:
1 A resolution to declare May 6-10, 2024, as Teacher
2 Appreciation Week in the state of Michigan.
3 Whereas, An equitable and effective system of free public-
4 school education for all students is essential to our democratic
5 system of government; and
6 Whereas, The United States of America and the state of
7 Michigan have made considerable progress in the social,
8 technological, and scientific fields due to our system of free and
9 universal public education; and
10 Whereas, Much of this progress can be attributed to dedicated

1 and hard-working teachers who are entrusted with the educational
2 development of our children; and
3 Whereas, Teachers should be held with high esteem, as they
4 reflect the value our community places on public education; and
5 Whereas, Teachers hold an important role nationwide, as they
6 are significant factors in shaping children and youth; and
7 Whereas, Teachers are deserving of recognition for their
8 tireless efforts and their commitment to educating students; now,
9 therefore, be it
10 Resolved by the House of Representatives, That the members of
11 this legislative body declare May 6-10 as Teacher Appreciation Week
12 in the state of Michigan.
