HOUSE RESOLUTION NO.243
Reps. VanWoerkom, Breen, Tyrone Carter, Glanville, Haadsma,
Hope, MacDonell, McFall, Morse, Rheingans, Rogers, Thompson and Young
offered the following resolution:
1 A resolution to declare May 10, 2024, as Provider Appreciation
2 Day in the state of Michigan.
3 Whereas, Childcare has provided a safe, nurturing place for
4 the enrichment and development of millions of children nationwide
5 and is a vital force in our economy; and
6 Whereas, Childcare providers tirelessly devote themselves to
7 the care and education of our children, often going unrecognized
8 for their vital role in our communities; and
9 Whereas, Childcare programs, which are mostly small
10 businesses, run and staffed predominantly by women, continue to

1 recover from the health and financial hardships stemming from the
2 pandemic to meet the needs of more families; and
3 Whereas, Childcare has been and continues to be a lifeline for
4 families, communities, and the economy, and their work enables
5 parents and guardians to pursue their own endeavors, knowing their
6 children are in capable hands; and
7 Whereas, The future depends on the quality of the early
8 childhood experiences provided to young children today; support for
9 high-quality childcare represents a worthy commitment to our
10 children’s future; now, therefore, be it
11 Resolved by the House of Representatives, That the members of
12 this legislative body declare May 10, 2024, as Provider
13 Appreciation Day in the state of Michigan.
