A bill to require the adjustment of reimbursements made to
child care providers under the child development and care program
for inflation; and to provide for the powers and duties of certain
state and local governmental officers and entities.
THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF MICHIGAN ENACT:
1 Sec. 1. As used in this act:
2 (a) "Child care provider" means that term as defined under
3 section 2 of the child protection law, 1975 PA 238, MCL 722.622.
4 (b) "Department" means the department of lifelong education,
5 advancement, and potential.

1 (c) "Detroit Consumer Price Index" means the most
2 comprehensive index of consumer prices available for the Detroit
3 area from the United States Department of Labor, Bureau of Labor
4 Statistics.
5 (d) "Program" means the child development and care program.
6 Sec. 3. Beginning on the effective date of this act,
7 reimbursements made to a child care provider under the program must
8 be adjusted for inflation annually using the Detroit Consumer Price
9 Index.
