A bill to amend 1954 PA 116, entitled
"Michigan election law,"
(MCL 168.1 to 168.992) by adding section 931c.
THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF MICHIGAN ENACT:
1 Sec. 931c. (1) An individual who intentionally makes a false
2 statement or misrepresentation to another individual concerning any
3 of the following is subject to a civil fine of not more than
4 $1,000.00 for each violation:
5 (a) The time, place, or manner of an election.
6 (b) The qualifications for or restrictions on voter

1 eligibility.
2 (c) Criminal penalties associated with voting in an election.
3 (d) An individual's voter registration status or eligibility.
4 (2) An individual intentionally makes a false statement or
5 misrepresentation under subsection (1) if the individual knows the
6 statement or misrepresentation is false and makes the false
7 statement or misrepresentation with the intent to impede or prevent
8 another individual from exercising the individual's right to vote
9 in an election.
10 (3) An entity that employs, for an election-related purpose,
11 an individual who violates this section is subject to a civil fine
12 of not more than $10,000.00.
