HOUSE RESOLUTION NO.154
Reps. Stone, Paiz, Hood, Brabec, Hope, Morse and Rheingans
offered the following resolution:
1 A resolution to declare October 23-31, 2023, as Red Ribbon
2 Week in the state of Michigan.
3 Whereas, Alcohol and drug abuse affect individuals, families,
4 and communities across the nation; and
5 Whereas, It is imperative that visible, unified efforts by
6 community members be launched to prevent drug abuse; and
7 Whereas, Red Ribbon Week offers citizens the opportunity to
8 demonstrate their commitment to drug-free lifestyles; and
9 Whereas, Red Ribbon Week will be celebrated in communities
10 across the nation on October 23-31; and
11 Whereas, Businesses, government, law enforcement, media,
12 healthcare providers, religious institutions, schools, and other

1 community-based organizations will demonstrate their commitment to
2 healthy, drug-free lifestyles by wearing red ribbons and
3 participating in drug prevention activities; and
4 Whereas, The state of Michigan further commits its resources
5 to ensure the success of Red Ribbon Week; now, therefore, be it
6 Resolved by the House of Representatives, That the members of
7 this legislative body declare October 23-31, 2023, as Red Ribbon
8 Week in the state of Michigan. We encourage participation in drug
9 prevention education activities, not only during Red Ribbon Week,
10 but also throughout the year, to make a visible statement of strong
11 commitment to a drug-free lifestyle.
