A bill to amend 1961 PA 236, entitled
"Revised judicature act of 1961,"
(MCL 600.101 to 600.9947) by adding section 2980.
THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF MICHIGAN ENACT:
1 Sec. 2980. A physician is not liable for civil damages that
2 result from the physician's provision of or failure to provide a
3 written verification that an individual who is under the
4 physician's care is unable, for physical or medical reasons, to do
5 1 or more of the following:

1 (a) Wear a safety belt, as described in section 710e of the
2 Michigan vehicle code, 1949 PA 300, MCL 257.710e.
3 (b) Wear a helmet, as described in section 81133 or 82123 of
4 the natural resources and environmental protection act, 1994 PA
5 451, MCL 324.81133 and 324.82123.
