A bill to amend 1968 PA 251, entitled
"Cemetery regulation act,"
(MCL 456.521 to 456.543) by adding section 12b.
THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF MICHIGAN ENACT:
1 Sec. 12b. A cemetery owner that owns a crematory, or an
2 operator of that cemetery owner, shall establish and maintain
3 inside the crematory a refrigeration unit that is suitable for
4 storing the bodies of deceased individuals. If the body of a
5 deceased individual is not cremated within 24 hours after arrival

1 at the crematory, the cemetery owner or operator shall keep the
2 body in a refrigeration unit under this section at an air
3 temperature not to exceed 40 degrees Fahrenheit.
