A bill to amend 1911 PA 235, entitled
"An act to provide for the payment and reimbursement by counties,
in certain cases upon application therefor, of expenses incurred in
the burial of the bodies of honorably discharged members of the
armed forces of the United States, or their spouses, and to repeal
certain acts or parts of acts,"
by amending sections 2 and 3 (MCL 35.802 and 35.803).
THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF MICHIGAN ENACT:
1 Sec. 2. It shall be the duty of the members of the The
2 soldiers' relief commission of each county, whenever application is
3 made for reimbursement by the county for such the funeral expenses

1 paid or advanced, or incurred for the burial of such a deceased
2 person, to individual as described in section 1, shall make an
3 investigation of such the claim and report their its action to the
4 clerk of the board of supervisors commissioners of the county, or
5 to the clerk of the board of county auditors, as the case may be,
6 in all cases setting forth all the facts, together with the name,
7 rank, and command to which such the soldier, sailor, marine, nurse,
8 or member of the women's auxiliary belonged, and in case of such
9 wife or widow, the spouse or surviving spouse, the rank and command
10 to which her husband the respective spouse or deceased husband
11 spouse belonged, the name and service rendered as such an army
12 nurse, if applicable, the date of his or her death, place where
13 buried, and his or her place of residence and occupation while
14 living. They The commission shall require such person or persons
15 the individual who paid, advanced, or incurred such the burial
16 expenses for such the deceased person individual to furnish the
17 board of supervisors, commissioners, or board of county auditors in
18 counties having a board of county auditors, with a sworn itemized
19 statement of the expense expenses incurred in the burial of the
20 deceased person individual mentioned in the application. The
21 members of the commission, except where they are paid a salary,
22 shall receive from the county the sum of $2.00 per day for the time
23 actually and necessarily employed by them in the performance of
24 their duties.
25 Sec. 3. It shall be the duty of the The clerk of the board of

27 may be, upon receiving the report and statement of expenses
28 provided for in the preceding section, to section 2, shall

2 sailor, or marine, or the deceased wife or widow spouse or
3 surviving spouse of the same, deceased soldier, sailor, or marine,
4 or such deceased army nurse, and to report such the application and
5 statement to the board of supervisors commissioners or the board of
6 county auditors, as the case may be, at the respective board's next

24 the state constitution of 1963 as provided in section 1 of article
25 XII of the state constitution of 1963.
