A bill to amend 1965 PA 380, entitled
"Executive organization act of 1965,"
by amending section 179 (MCL 16.279).
THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF MICHIGAN ENACT:
1 Sec. 179. (1) The commission of agriculture and rural
2 development shall consist of 5 members, not more than 3 of whom
3 shall be members of the same political party, appointed by the
4 governor by and with the advice and consent of the senate, . The
5 term of office of each that meet the following requirements:

1 (a) Not more than 3 members shall be members of the same
2 political party.
3 (b) At least 1 member shall be a resident of the Upper
4 Peninsula.
5 (2) Except for members first appointed, each member shall be
6 serve for 4 years. , except that of Of the members first appointed
7 2 shall be appointed for 1 year, 1 shall be appointed for 2 years,
8 1 shall be appointed for 3 years, and 1 shall be appointed for 4
9 years. A member appointed to fill a vacancy occurring other than by
10 expiration of a term shall be appointed for the unexpired term.
11 (3) The commission of agriculture and rural development shall
12 elect from its members officers as it considers advisable. A
13 majority of the commission members shall be required to constitute
14 constitutes a quorum.
15 (4) The business which that the commission of agriculture and
16 rural development may perform shall must be conducted at a meeting
17 of the commission held in compliance with Act No. 267 of the Public
18 Acts of the open meetings act, 1976 PA 267, being sections MCL
19 15.261 to 15.275. of the Michigan Compiled Laws. Public notice of
20 the time, date, and place of the meeting shall must be given in the
21 manner required by Act No. 267 of the Public Acts of the open
22 meetings act, 1976 PA 267, MCL 15.261 to 15.275.
