Regulatory Affairs.
A bill to amend 1978 PA 368, entitled
"Public health code,"
(MCL 333.1101 to 333.25211) by adding section 21525a.
THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF MICHIGAN ENACT:
1 Sec. 21525a. Each hospital shall create an accurate record of
2 actual direct care registered professional nurse-to-patient ratios
3 in each unit for each shift and maintain that record for not less
4 than 3 years. The record must include the number of patients in
5 each unit and the identity and duty hours of each direct care

1 registered professional nurse assigned to each patient in each unit
2 for each shift. Each hospital shall make the record described in
3 this section available to the department, registered professional
4 nurses and their collective bargaining representatives, if any, and
5 the public under rules promulgated by the department.
6 Enacting section 1. This amendatory act takes effect 90 days
7 after the date it is enacted into law.
