SUMMARY:
House Bill 4076 would amend the Michigan Election Law to require only candidates who are
running for nomination or election to a partisan office to state their political party or indicate
no party affiliation when filing a nominating petition, qualifying petition, filing fee, or affidavit
of candidacy. Currently, candidates for all elected offices must include such a statement, in
addition to all other required information. 1
