A bill to amend 1939 PA 280, entitled

"The social welfare act,"

(MCL 400.1 to 400.119b) by adding section 14n.

the people of the state of michigan enact:

Sec. 14n. (1) A food assistance recipient shall not use a Michigan bridge card, other form of electronic benefit transfer, or assistance payment to purchase carbonated soft drinks.

(2) A merchant shall not accept a Michigan bridge card, other form of electronic benefit transfer, or assistance payment for the purchase of carbonated soft drinks.
