This bill reassigns the State Board of Education's role in the development of teacher certification standards with the Professional Standards Board. The bill also provides that members nominated to serve on the Professional Standards Board are subject to approval
41 by the joint standing committee of the Legislature having jurisdiction over education
42 matters and to confirmation by the Legislature. The bill also provides that members of the
43 Professional Standards Board are also entitled to compensation and that the Department of
44 Education is responsible for providing staff assistance to the board to assist in carrying out
45 its duties. This legislation takes effect on July 1, 2026.
