Resolve, Directing the Department of Education to Establish a Working
Group to Review the State Board of Education's Membership,
Responsibilities, Functions and Staffing
Sec. 1. Working group to review State Board of Education. Resolved: That
the Department of Education shall establish a working group of stakeholders and other
interested parties to review adding a teacher to the membership of the State Board of
Education as established in the Maine Revised Statutes, Title 5, section 12004-C,
subsection 1 and the responsibilities, functions and staffing of the State Board of Education.
The department shall report to the joint standing committee of the Legislature having
jurisdiction over education and cultural affairs on the findings of the working group by
January 15, 2025.
Sec. 2. Appropriations and allocations. Resolved: That the following
appropriations and allocations are made.

Initiative: Provides one-time funds to support the working group established to review
adding a teacher to the membership of the State Board of Education as well as the
responsibilities, functions and staffing of the State Board of Education.
