This bill authorizes the Massachusetts Department of Transportation to take easements over specific parcels of land in Woburn and Burlington, which are held in trust by the city of Boston for the Mary P. C. Cummings Testamentary Trust, for highway purposes. The easements include temporary construction areas of 4,603 square feet and permanent easements of 8,917 square feet, which are necessary for an intersection improvement project at the intersection of Cambridge Road, South Bedford Street, and Bedford Road. The bill is declared an emergency law to ensure immediate action for public safety and convenience.

Additionally, the bill outlines that the town of Burlington has required land to be set aside for future improvements to the intersection as mitigation for the takings described. This includes a conservation restriction on approximately 9 acres of land, which is intended to satisfy Article 97 of the Massachusetts Constitution regarding the protection of public land. The Department of Transportation is responsible for all costs related to the engineering, surveys, appraisals, and other expenses necessary to execute the takings authorized by this act.
