The bill, titled "An Act authorizing the town of Wayland to grant additional licenses for the sale of all alcoholic beverages to be drunk on the premises," allows the licensing authority of Wayland to issue 10 additional licenses for the sale of alcoholic beverages, notwithstanding section 17 of Chapter 138 of the General Laws. These licenses will still be subject to the other provisions of Chapter 138, except for the specified section. The bill also stipulates that licenses cannot be transferred to a different location, but a new applicant can be granted a license at the same location if they provide documentation from the Department of Revenue and the Department of Unemployment Assistance confirming that the license is in good standing.
Additionally, if a license issued under this act is canceled, revoked, or no longer in use, it must be returned to the licensing authority, which can then grant it to a new applicant at the same location under the same conditions. The act is set to take effect immediately upon its passage.
