The bill titled "An Act relative to extending the police chief's service to the town of Leicester" allows Kenneth M. Antanavica, the Police Chief of Leicester, to continue serving in his position until April 30, 2028, which is the last day of the month of his 70th birthday, or until he retires, is not reappointed, or is relieved of his duties, whichever comes first. This extension is granted notwithstanding Chapter 32 or any other general or special law to the contrary, provided that he remains mentally and physically capable of performing his duties.
Additionally, the bill specifies that no further deductions will be made from Antanavica's regular compensation under Chapter 32 for any service after April 30, 2025. Upon his retirement, he will receive a superannuation retirement allowance equivalent to what he would have been entitled to if he had retired on that date. The act is set to take effect immediately upon its passage.
