This bill authorizes the town of Monterey to allow police officer Jennifer O. Brown to continue her employment until she reaches the age of 70, despite any existing laws that may contradict this provision. It stipulates that her continued service is contingent upon her mental and physical capability to perform her duties, and she remains subject to approval or removal by the appointing authority. The appointing authority has the right to require an examination by the Berkshire County Retirement System to assess her capability for continued service. Additionally, the bill specifies that no further deductions will be made from her compensation after she turns 65, and upon retirement, she will receive a superannuation retirement allowance equivalent to what she would have received had she retired at 65.

Furthermore, if an impartial physician determines that Officer Brown is not capable of continuing her service, she will be retired for superannuation but will not be considered disabled under the relevant retirement laws. This act will take effect immediately upon its passage.
