An Act relative to the Massachusetts maternal mortality and morbidity review committee.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority
of the same, as follows:
1 Section 24O of said chapter 111 of the General Laws, as inserted by section 43 of chapter
2 28 of the acts of 2023, is hereby amended by adding the following subsection:- (f)
3 Notwithstanding any general or special law to the contrary, upon the determination of the
4 committee's chair that the review of any information or record is necessary to carry out the
5 purpose of this section, the committee shall request and the relevant offices and agencies shall
6 provide requested records or information from any agency, department, or office of the
7 commonwealth, including but not limited to the executive office of health and human services
8 and its constituent agencies, the executive office of public safety and security, the center for
9 health information and analysis, the office of patient protection, the chief justice of the trial
10 court, any health care facility, state comprehensive health planning agency, or acute-care hospital
11 as defined in section 25B, and any health care provider or professional licensed pursuant to
12 chapter 112. The committee may receive and solicit voluntary information, including oral or
13 written statements relating to any case that may come before the committee from any public or

14 private entity and any person including but not limited to a patient in a case of maternal
15 morbidity.
