the line of duty, reports recommending that the accompanying bill (House,
No. 4463) ought to pass.

An Act relative to certain retirement benefits for the surviving spouse of a state police officer
injured in the line of duty.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority
of the same, as follows:
1 SECTION 1. Notwithstanding and general or special law to the contrary, Felicia
2 O’Connor, the surviving spouse of John Bernard O’Connor, a retired state police officer, who is
3 currently receiving a surviving spouse retirement allowance, shall be entitled to a recalculated
4 surviving spouse retirement allowance. The recalculated surviving spouse retirement allowance
5 shall be equal to that which she would have received had John Bernard O’Connor been allowed
6 to elect the Option C retirement allowance prior to his death.
7 SECTION 2. The amount of the recalculated surviving spouse retirement allowance in
8 section 1 shall apply retroactively to the date of death of John Bernard O’Connor.
