House Resolution No. ___, introduced by Representative Jordan, establishes the Task Force on Fire Chief Operations to evaluate the role of fire chiefs within the fire and police civil service in Louisiana. The task force is tasked with creating a uniform definition for the position of fire chief in state law and will conduct a comprehensive review of the duties and responsibilities associated with this role. The findings and recommendations from the task force must be submitted in a written report to the House of Representatives at least thirty days before the 2027 Regular Session.

The first meeting of the task force is to be held by September 1, 2026, where members will elect a chairman and other officers. The task force will operate under the Open Meetings Law and will conclude its business by February 15, 2027, or upon completion of its objectives. Members will serve without compensation, except for any per diem or expense reimbursements they may be entitled to from their respective organizations.
