House Resolution No. by Representative Dickerson commends Baron Baker for his remarkable achievements in competitive weightlifting. At just seventeen years old, Baron has demonstrated exceptional determination and resilience, following in the footsteps of his late father, Brandon Baker, an international weightlifter, and his grandfather, Richard Baker, a former Louisiana state representative and U.S. congressman. Despite facing significant challenges, including an eleven-hour flight delay and a lack of food and sleep before a major competition, Baron excelled at the 2026 VIRUS Weightlifting Series 1 in Columbus, Ohio, where he set American records in the snatch, clean and jerk, and total weight lifted.
Baron's accomplishments have earned him a spot on the United States Youth World Team, allowing him to represent the country at the upcoming Youth World Championship in Cali, Colombia. Described by his coach as an exceptional athlete, Baron balances his rigorous training with academic excellence as an Honors Society student at Episcopal High School. The resolution recognizes Baron Baker not only for his athletic prowess but also for embodying the values of discipline, humility, and purpose, encouraging him to continue striving for greatness in his future endeavors.
