Senate Bill No. 310, also known as the "Signs of Hope Act," mandates that student health centers in public high schools and on college and university campuses display signs that provide information about pregnancy resources. The Louisiana Department of Health (LDH) and its designated nonprofit organization are responsible for designing and producing these signs, which must read "Pregnant? Help Is Available for You and Your Baby!" and include a link to the department's pregnancy resources website. The signs are required to be at least 16 inches by 20 inches, printed in a large, easily readable font, and displayed in patient admission areas, waiting rooms, and consultation rooms.
The bill also stipulates that the LDH is not obligated to use its own funds for the signs; instead, it may utilize donated funds or accept donated signs, provided they are approved by the department. Additionally, the term "designated nonprofit organization" is defined as a tax-exempt private nonprofit organization that assists the LDH in implementing the provisions of the bill. The act will take effect upon the governor's signature or after the expiration of the time for bills to become law without the governor's signature.
