The bill amends existing regulations regarding the possession limits for recreational fishing in Louisiana, specifically for largemouth bass, spotted bass, red drum, and spotted sea trout taken south of U.S. Highway 90. It establishes that the possession limit for these fish can be three times the daily take limit if the fisherman possesses a valid recreational fishing license and can demonstrate to the department's satisfaction that they have been actively fishing or at a remote camp accessible only by water for two days or more.
Additionally, the bill modifies the requirements for demonstrating compliance with these regulations by removing the need for a landing receipt from a public boat launch and the previous stipulations regarding how the fish should be stored and labeled. The fish must still be kept whole or whole gutted and can only be in the possession of the person who caught them, while also prohibiting fishermen from actively fishing while in possession of more than the daily take limit.
