House Bill No. 349, introduced by Representative Domangue, amends R.S. 40:5.10.1(B) concerning the Imported Seafood Safety Fund. The bill modifies the current law by removing the restriction that the funds be used "solely" for enforcing the provisions of R.S. 3:4749 et seq. Instead, it allows for the appropriation of these funds to also include the administration of a program aimed at marketing and promoting Louisiana seafood.

The bill is set to take effect upon the governor's signature or, if not signed, after the designated time for bills to become law without signature. If the governor vetoes the bill and it is later approved by the legislature, it will become effective the day after such approval.
