Senate Bill No. 129, introduced by Senator Foil, establishes the "Master Combat Infantryman" special prestige license plate in Louisiana. The bill mandates the secretary of the Department of Public Safety and Corrections to create and issue this license plate, which will be available for passenger cars, pickup trucks, recreational vehicles, motorcycles, and vans. The design of the plate will feature the United States Army Master Combat Infantryman Badge and the words "Master Combat Infantryman," with specific color requirements of light blue and gold. The issuance of the plate is restricted to individuals who have been awarded the Combat Infantryman Badge along with one of the following expert badges: the Expert Infantryman Badge, the Expert Field Medical Badge, or the Expert Soldier Badge.
Additionally, the bill stipulates that each military honor license plate must be returned to the secretary upon the death of the individual to whom it was issued. However, a surviving spouse may retain the license plate if they have not remarried and apply for a transfer. The bill also includes provisions for the necessary rules and regulations to implement these changes and is set to take effect on August 1, 2026.
