This bill amends and reenacts R.S. 18:426.1(B) and enacts R.S. 18:426.1(C) to address the compensation of election commissioners in Louisiana. The amended language specifies that the compensation outlined in Subsection A will cover time worked on election day and participation in instructional courses. Additionally, it introduces a new provision allowing for supplemental compensation for election commissioners during elections held within one year of a gubernatorial emergency declaration.

Under the new subsection, the secretary of state is authorized to approve an additional payment of up to one hundred dollars per election or day of assistance for each commissioner, on top of the existing compensation. This supplemental payment is contingent upon the appropriation of funds. The bill is set to take effect on January 1, 2027.
