Senate Bill No. SLS 26RS-106, introduced by Senator Price, amends the current law regarding special prestige license plates by changing the name and design of the "State Employee Retired" plate to "RSEA." The bill specifies that the new license plate will feature the shape of Louisiana and the state seal, with the RSEA logo displayed at the bottom. The issuance of these plates is contingent upon a minimum of one thousand applicants, and they will be available for passenger cars, pickup trucks, recreational vehicles, and vans.

Additionally, the bill modifies the allocation of the $25 fee associated with the license plate. Previously, the fee was directed to the Louisiana State Employees' Retirement System (LASERS) to help reduce the state's unfunded liability. Under the new provisions, the fee will now be redirected to the RSEA Foundation, Inc. The changes are set to take effect on August 1, 2026.
