The Senate Resolution proposes the establishment of the Baton Rouge SWOT Analysis Study Commission, tasked with conducting a comprehensive Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, and Threats (SWOT) analysis of Baton Rouge. This initiative aims to assess the city's current state and future potential, ensuring its vitality as the capital of Louisiana and promoting its growth and prosperity. The resolution emphasizes the importance of involving a diverse group of stakeholders, including public officials, business leaders, educators, and community organizations, to create a meaningful and inclusive evaluation of the city's assets and challenges.
The commission will consist of various representatives, including the mayor-president of Baton Rouge, members from local economic and educational organizations, and state senators. It will convene its first meeting at the call of the senator representing District 15, where members will elect a chairman and other officers. The commission is required to submit a written report of its findings and recommendations to the president of the Senate no later than sixty days before the 2026 Regular Session, with its activities concluding upon the submission of this report or by July 1, 2026. Members will serve without compensation, except for any per diem or expense reimbursements they may be entitled to from their respective organizations.
