House Resolution No. ___, introduced by Representative Young, commends Thelma Alice Smith Washington Williams on the occasion of her one hundredth birthday, celebrated on January 14, 2025. Born in Charleston, West Virginia, in 1925, Ms. Williams has had a distinguished career in education, serving as an assistant professor and dance instructor at Grambling College, as well as working at Grambling High School. She holds degrees from Morgan State University and West Virginia University and has made significant contributions to the community through her mentorship, authorship, and involvement in various civic activities.

Throughout her life, Ms. Williams has demonstrated a commitment to the arts and education, having choreographed numerous events and authored a book on the history of Grambling. She is an active member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., and New Rocky Valley Baptist Church, and is a proud mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. The resolution recognizes her lifetime of service and contributions to the Grambling community, extending wishes for her continued prosperity in all endeavors.
