Senate Resolution No. [insert number] commends and recognizes the Sigma Rho Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated, on the occasion of its thirty-fifth anniversary. Established on May 19, 1990, by six dedicated women in Shreveport, Louisiana, the chapter has significantly contributed to the community through its commitment to the sorority's mission of "Service to All Mankind." Over the years, the chapter has grown to include over two hundred members, including educators, healthcare professionals, and civic leaders, and has implemented various programs that promote leadership, civic engagement, and educational advancement.
The Sigma Rho Omega Chapter has made a profound impact in Northwest Louisiana, mentoring over six hundred fifty high school seniors through its debutante program and awarding more than two hundred eighty-eight scholarships. In the past decade alone, members have dedicated over thirty thousand hours to community service, with a total exceeding sixty thousand hours in the last twenty years. The chapter also established the Pearls of Humanity Foundation to enhance its philanthropic efforts and has actively participated in initiatives to combat childhood hunger, demonstrating its unwavering commitment to uplifting the community and improving quality of life.
