The Senate Resolution commends the Chalmette High School 2025 Management Team for their outstanding achievement in winning the National ProStart Invitational held in Baltimore, Maryland, on May 4, 2025. This prestigious competition is recognized as the leading event for secondary school students interested in restaurant management and culinary arts, bringing together top teams from across the United States. The Chalmette team, consisting of students Asthma Askar, Denim Bell, Kamryn Simon, Norman Burrey-Morales, and team manager Lily Vu, showcased exceptional skills in restaurant concept development and business planning, ultimately impressing judges with their original Creole-Italian fusion restaurant concept, "La Strada."
Their victory not only highlights their talent and creativity but also earned them a share of over $200,000 in scholarships, paving the way for future opportunities in the hospitality and business sectors. This achievement marks the fourth consecutive year that teacher Elena Hodges has led a team from Chalmette High School to win the Louisiana ProStart Invitational and qualify for nationals, underscoring her dedication and excellence in education. The resolution concludes by directing that a copy be sent to the school's principal, Wayne Warner, to acknowledge this significant accomplishment.
